Marilyn Modesitt Gill

As a charter member, Marilyn helped shape the Santa Clara Vanguard from a simple parade corps to World Champions. She marched in the color guard from 1967 to 1973, and upon aging out, joined the educational staff where she taught alongside fellow Vanguard Hall of Fame members Dan Smith, Fred Sanford and Pete Emmons until 1975. In those early days, when SCV was new and struggling to make a name for itself, Marilyn was instrumental in ensuring that the corps would rise to the top. In recent years she continues to be involved within the organization as a volunteer on the Hall of Fame committee and member of the 2017 SCV Alumni Corps.
