Ben Carroll

Ben Carroll is a distinguished hornist and music educator based in Dallas, Texas. He currently performs as the 2nd Horn in the Plano Symphony Orchestra and Principal Horn of the McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, Ben has worked with a variety of esteemed ensembles across Texas, including the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Opera Orchestra, the Dallas Chamber Symphony, and the Dallas Winds.

A Texan through and through, Ben earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music from the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied under Professor Patrick Hughes. He currently studies as a Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas, where he is pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) under the guidance of Dr. Stacie Mickens, with an expected completion in 2027.

As a dedicated mentor, Ben is committed to nurturing the next generation of musicians. He serves as the Adjunct Instructor of Music for Horn at Texas Woman’s University and is music faculty for the Plano Symphony Summer Music Camp.

The marching arts has been a long-standing passion of Mr. Carroll since soloing with the Santa Clara Vanguard from 2012- 2014 and the Santa Clara Vanguard International Corps in 2015. After membership, Ben was on the instructional staff at the Blue Knights 15-17 and Phantom Regiment 18-20 before returning to teach brass at the Santa Clara Vanguard in 2022.
