Diane was a member of the “B” Corps from 84-87 starting as a cymbal player and moving onto Color Guard in 1985, SCVC from 88-90. She was the SCVC Color Guard Captain in 1990. Diane then moved up to the A-Corps guard in 91 where she performed through her age out year in 96 and was SCV Guard Captain 94-96. Diane earned both the Outstanding Color Guard award in 1990 for SCVC and in 1996 she received the Joanna Avilla Color Guard Guard Award.
Diane taught within the Vanguard family in the following years: 1996 (pre tour), 2001-2005, 2009-2011 with SCVC, 2004 SCV Rose Bowl Parade, 2006-2007 A-Corps, 2006 & 2010-2012 Winter Guard, 2017 Alumni Corps, 2019/2021 Alumni Parade Corps.
Diane also worked with Carol Abohatob teaching children’s Dance Classes with Children’s Adventures in Movement based out of the Vanguard Hall from 2001-2005. Diane has also been very active in VMAPA’s Alumni Association in the last 6 years helping to start the 5K fundraiser and helping to lead other large Fundraising events including the decades challenge. Diane also helped to produce the 1991 Historical Society Video as well as being part of the 92, 93 and now 94 videos. Diane also helped to sew SCVC uniforms in 2019 and 2022. When she has free time you can find her helping to cook and serve food in Ms. Amana at local camps.
Diane has also worked with many local color guards as well as color guards from the East Coast and Taiwan including, Homestead High School, DCA Connecticut Hurricanes, East Lyme High School, Saratoga High School, Los Altos High School, San Jose State, Taipei Drum and Bugle Corps, and Mountain View High School.
Currently, Diane is an Educational Specialist at Mountain View High School in their Life Skills program where she has been for the last 16 years. She has worked in the education field since 1998. Diane still finds a little time to consult, most recently with San Jose State Color Guard and Winter Guard as well as Sparta Percussion.
Diane resides in Sunnyvale with her Husband Rick and two Daughters Jacqui (11) and Kenzie (9). Recently, Diane has helped manage the girls Flag Football and Softball teams.
