A fierce proponent of the arts, Thomas Hubel is currently pursuing a degree in Music Education from the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music in Stockton, CA. He is in his second year teaching brass with the Homestead High School Marching Band in Cupertino, CA, as well as trumpet faculty with the Pacific Community Music School.
Thomas is principal trumpet of the University of the Pacific’s award-winning Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and is a charter member of Pacific’s 28/78 New Music Ensemble. He has performed with the Stockton Symphony, the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Heavy Ensemble, and UOP’s Jazz Ensemble, as well as in venues including Carnegie Hall, the Hawaii Theater, and Stockton’s Take 5 Jazz Club. Thomas has appeared live in concert with Frank Ticheli, Carmen Bradford, and Yoshiaki Onishi, and in masterclasses with Mark Inouye and John Pearson.
Born and raised in Santa Clara County, Thomas is an alum of both SCVC & SCV – beginning in 2014 and aging out in 2018 as trumpet section leader and soloist. Thomas was the recipient of the Golden Foot Award and the Mike Korten Memorial Horn Award in 2018.
Thomas is absolutely thrilled to be joining a star-studded SCVC staff and hopes to continue to grow and learn from an organization that has given him so much.
